The University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB) volleyball club are in advanced talks to sign Fidele Nyirimana as their new head coach ahead of the 2018-19 season. The development was confirmed to Times Sport on Sunday by Philbert Mucyo, the UTB volleyball club team manager. The former Rwanda international is out of contract at Gisagara Volleyball Club and is reportedly open to new offers after guiding the Southern Province-based side to a local treble – the league Genocide Memorial Tournament and Care d’As titles last season. According to Mucyo, the deal should be sealed by end of this week. “We are in talks with Fidele (Nyirimana) and are looking forward to sealing the deal soon, probably in a week’s time. He is a great coach with vast experience and proven winning mentality,” Mucyo told this paper yesterday. The veteran libero joined Gisagara at the beginning of the 2017/2018 season, fresh from guiding the Kirehe Volleyball Club to the 2017 Care d’As title. Previously, Nyirimana coached the University of Rwanda (formerly National University of Rwanda) and now-defunct Rayon Sports before moving to Kirehe in 2016. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
