EMMANUEL Ruremesha has been appointed as the head coach for second division league side Gorilla FC on a two-year deal. The former Rayon Sports and SC Kiyovu tactician has been tasked to lead the club to the 2020-21 Rwanda Premier League. “We mainly hired him [Ruremesha] to earn us promotion to the topflight league,” Hadji Mudaheranwa, the club’s president, told Times Sport on Friday. “He has a rich knowledge and vast experience in local football. We offered him two years, but we hope – depending on how he performs – we will keep him for longer.” Gorilla will have a mountain to climb in their bid to the topflight league after finishing second in Pool A of the second division league. Come September, when competitive action resumes after six months of sports suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the top four teams from Pool A and Pool B will square off in playoffs – starting from quarter-finals – vying for two available promotion slots. The two teams that will reach the final, will automatically replace Heroes and Gicumbi, who were relegated from the top flight league. Teams in playoffs quarter-finals: Pool A: Rutsiro, Gorilla, Interforce and Amagaju Pool B: Etoile de l’Est, Vision, Rwamagana City and Alpha
