KIGALI - Rwanda is the first African country to book a place in the finals of the Fifa U-17 World Cup scheduled to be held in Mexico from June 18-July 10, 2011. Rwanda’s Junior Wasps sealed a historical place in the World Cup finals after a 1-0 victory over Egypt in a Group A match of the on-going Africa U-17 Championship which was played, yesterday, at Nyamirambo Regional Stadium. Faustin Usengimana scored the all important goal of the day to ensure Rwanda’s first ever participation at the World Cup finals. Usengimana, a centre back at Primus league side, Rayon Sport, has two goals to his name in the tournament. With three more places up for grabs from the African continent, Rwanda has joined Uzbekistan, Australia, Japan and Korea DPR who qualified from the AFC U-16 Championship and hosts Mexico who will be among North and Central America representatives. Rwanda winds up her group stage campaign with a crucial match against Senegal on Friday at Amahoro stadium. Ends
