The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has appointed Dutchman Hendrik Pieter de Jongh as the new national technical director on a two-year deal. Hendrik Pieter de Jongh. According to the FERWAFA president Vincent Nzamwita, they have agreed terms with Hendrik and he will jet into the country next week to put pen to paper. The 45-year-old was selected from a shortlist that included Giovanni Scanu of Italy, Frenchman Sebastien Desabre (France) and Michael Weiss of Germany. In an interview with Times Sports, Nzamwita, said, “We have discussed the development of Rwandan football because he is someone who knows African football. Pieter is bright, intelligent and is highly motivated and very detailed in his approach. We are sure that we made the right decision. Nzamwita noted that Pieter also has the advantage of knowing Rwanda very well and will be able to fit in well. He will be assisted by Amavubi assistant coach Jimmy Mulisa. His major tasks will include delivering and managing youth development programmes; developing and implementing player analysis tools to enhance performance and support development. Others are organizing, planning, managing and delivering multiple projects to meet key performance indicators. Who is Hendrik Pieter de Jongh? De Jongh began his playing career at NAC Breda, before moving to Sparta Rotterdam. His professional career was cut short due to a serious ankle injury. De Jongh then moved into coaching, beginning his managerial career at RKC Waalwijk, Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) as the boss. He also coached VRC in Veenendaal, FC Dordrecht, Vitesse Delft, AZ Eredivisie. He was later appointed director of Budapest Honvéd academy.
