Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) have assured the public of their security despite an attack on Saturday by unidentified assailants in Nyungwe Forest that claimed two lives and injured eight. The attack was launched on three passenger vehicles which were all set on fire by the assailants. The incident occurred in the evening at around 18:15pm in Cyitabi Sector of Nyamagabe District, according to a statement from RDF. “The injured have been taken to Kigeme Hospital for treatment,” the statement signed by Lt Col Innocent Munyengango, the Defence and Military Spokesperson reads in part. He added that the attackers fled into Nyungwe Forest and RDF is pursuing them. “We have been watching the situation in this area for some time now and have a good idea of who is behind today’s incident. We are in pursuit of the attackers and action will be taken against those responsible,” Munyengango is quoted in the statement as saying. He added that; “RDF reassures the public that the road is now clear and safe for all traffic.”
