Rwandas national lottery, Inzozi Lotto, on Monday handed a cheque to the winner who won last week’s jackpot worth Rwf2 million at the ongoing lottery. Inzozi Lotto was launched in December last year by locally registered firm Carousel Ltd in partnership with the Ministry of Sports with a goal to help uplift professional sport in the country. Last weeks winner was represented by one Eugene Kwizera during the awarding ceremony because he didn’t want his name to appear in the media. “I speak on behalf of the winner who doesn’t want to appear in the media. He told me that he is very happy with the prize because he invested just Rwf5,000 in to participate in draws over the whole week. “He is a sports enthusiast and is committed to continue participating in the lottery after realizing people can get money while at the same time contributing to sports development in Rwanda,” he said. During the awarding ceremony on Monday January 31, Thierry Nshuti, the Deputy Managing Director of Carousel Ltd which owns Inzozi Lotto urged more people to play so as to stand a chance of winning big and developing the sports sector at the same time. “When more playing rounds elapse without any winners or when more people join Inzozi Lotto, the cash prize also increases for the person who wins the subsequent rounds,” he said explaining that the prize of Rwf2 million increased from Rwf1 million because no one had won during the previous draw. He said that during last week’s Jackpot lotto, 511 people won different cash prizes during the draw held on Sunday January 30 including the winner of the grand prize of Rwf2 million. He urged people to play responsibly adding that to be able to play with Inzozi Lotto, one must be above 18 years old. The other game is called Quick Lotto. To play Quick Lotto one will be asked to choose one number within 35 (0 to 34) and precise the stake amount. The system draws a number and if you match it, you win 15 times tax exclusive of your stake. For example: if for the number you choose the stake amount was Rwf100 you will get Rwf1500.
