RWANDAN HIP HOP ARTISTE Steven Karigombe, a former Nyundo School of Arts and Music’s student, on Monday July 5, released a song dubbed ‘Intro (freestyle)’ that talks about his real life and his journey in the industry. According to the rapper it is the second song he released as part of his series of Extended Play (EP) titled ‘Mba ndi mu kazi petit’ which contains three songs. “The first song on this EP was ‘Mba ndi mu kazi petit’ whose lyrics video was released,’’ he told The New Times. Karigombe says that the song he released talks about his real life. “In the song, like the title suggests, I expressed myself as a rapper and how I am growing in this journey.’’ The rapper said that the next song on the EP is titled Nderuye, and the song will feature with an upcoming rapper M.kay Igisonga, and it will have released by the end of this month of July. When asked about what inspired the title of his EP, the artiste said that he liked the content after it was trending on Social Media. “The word was trending on social media after one of the social media influencers were corrected by Honorable Eduard Bamporiki where he retweeted “Mba ndi mu kazi petit” and I thought that it was a worthy term I can use,’’ the rapper recalls. The ‘Sandra’ hit maker shared his excitement on social media, where he shared a short video on his Instagram account. The singer added that despite the challenges triggered by the covid-19 pandemics the hip hop industry is rising and he is working on his collabo with an upcoming artiste called ‘Libra’ and other local artistes.
