ISAE KALINDA is an actor known for his different roles in many films. As a young child, the actor grew up with dreams of teaching or to be a journalist. All that changed when he eventually joined the film industry and is now the CEO and Founder of Talent Care Arts, Films and Media Group which organises Inganji Awards. “My dreams in childhood were to become a teacher or a journalist, I professionally started acting in 2014 with Mashirika performing arts, although I initiallyI tried it in high school around 2010 but didnt have hope of becoming professional,” Kalinda said. “When Urunana Stage Drama Team came to perform in ZAZA where I studied that time in 2013, I told their team leader who was also the production manager and Mashirika Deputy Director that I have acting talent. He told me to first finish my highschool then come back to him”, Kalinda explained. He continued, “upon completion of my secondary studies in 2014 I called him and he invited me to Kigali to see him, they auditioned me and I won. Thats how I joined Mashirika and started my career at the time”. So far, in his seven-year film journey, Kalinda has achieved different things including awards, many valued assets, establishing Talents Care Arts and film production group and many positions he worked in Mashirika. “I have achieved a lot in my career, in 2018 after four years of working for Mashirika as Actor, they hired me to be their Field Officer, specifically working as Community Theatre and Project Manager, Creative writer and Director as well,” he said. “Apart from those responsibilities, in 2016 I was elected as the President of Rwanda Theatre Union and President of Rwanda Performing Arts Federation in 2018 that I hold to date,” Kalinda revealed. Some of the awards Kalinda won include Best Feature Film of the year for the movie he wrote and acted called CA INKONI ZAMBA, Best Actor of the year and Best Director of the Year in Rwanda Movie Awards in 2017. The movie also won an award in 2018 during the Rwanda Christian Film festival. He won the Best film Actor of the Year in 2020 at Rwanda International Movie Awards for his movie Gitera. Kalinda has acted in Musekeweya as Shingiro, Urunana Radio Drama as a headmaster, Iwacu Radios serial drama as Munyentwali, acted in Umurunga Radios serial drama as Gatarayiha, acted in Ikirezi Radio Serial Drama as Muvara and many others. He is a writer, producer, actor and director of Igihirahiro web series, Gitera film, Consequences of the Choice series and he acted in a big Melodrama project by a German Producer and Russian Director Kirill Serebrenicov called Hansel and Gretel. He also founded the Inganji Awards that took place on October 30 and he is the current Secretary of Disciplinary Committee of Rwanda Arts Council. ” I am completing my first year in Cultural Management Training with Africalia Belgium and also, I am working on an international movie called Above the Brave, which talks about the Heroism of Nyange students in 1997,” he told The New Times. The 30-year-old was born in Jarama Sector, Ngoma District, Eastern Province.
