Last month, two young upcoming artistes Ariel Ways and Juno Kizigenza, dropped a song named ‘Away’ which won everyone’s admiration and attention in the country, making it the first track ever in Rwanda to hit a million views in three weeks. The song had close to 200,000 views on Youtube in less than a week and was nicknamed the summer anthem by music lovers. Speaking to The New Times, Ariel Ways said that it’s a celebration not only to her and her team but also to the Rwandan music industry in general. “I am so amazed and very pleased. I thank the whole team behind this masterpiece and Juno. I have no words to express how happy I am right now but it’s a clear image that together we can,” said Wayz. She further advised young upcoming artistes to make a step and to not fear anything that looks promising them as it will pay off. “There is a lot of proof now that music is worth it. What I can tell my fellow rising artistes, is not giving up and stay positive,” she said. Wayz also shared that she is working on different songs at the moment and promised to release them very soon. Juno Kizigenza and other celebrities also reacted to this big step in the music sector by expressing happiness and joy on social media. “Thank you to every supporter folded hands we did it Wayz” reads a tweet by Juno Kizigenza. “What counts is the HARD WORK. Keep it Up Guys,” tweeted David Bayingana, a media personility. ‘AWAY’ was released on June 18, produced by Rash and directed by Easy cut.
