Rwanda Tennis Federation (RTF) has named a four-man squad that will participate in this year’s International Tennis Federation (ITF) U-13 championships to be held in Dar es Salaam next month. RTF technical director Thierry Ntwali said yesterday that the four players were selected from the team that took part in the just concluded Confederation of African Tennis U-14 tournament held in Kigali. “We selected the best players who took part in the CAT under-14 tournament which climaxed last week,” Ntwali said. The team is led by Rwanda’s seed one Gisel Umumararungu, who won the first leg of the CAT U-14 event and lost in the final of the second leg. Others include; Oliver Uwizeye, Prince Ishimwe and Hakim Ntwali. The quartet has already embarked on intensive preparations at Cercle Sportif under the guidance of Eric Bimenyimana. The event whose dates are yet to be fixed is expected to attracted players East and Central African countries, namely Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Seychelles and hosts Tanzania.
