The national youth Council has elected Norbert Shyerezo to replace Philbert Uwiringiyimana as their coordinator.Uwiringiyimana was in September elected to represent the youth in Parliament, leaving a vacuum in the council. The election that was held on Wednesday at National Electoral Commission headquarters in Gasabo put Shyerezo, a youth representative from Ngororero District, ahead of Protegene Ntegeyimfura from Gisagara District.Shyerezo garnered 165 of the 214 votes cast. After his election, Shyerezo said he will champion cohesion among the youth, explaining that it is through working together that they will get where they want to be.“I will work with everyone to tackle different social economic problems that hinder development among the youth…we shall not only raise youth advocacy targeting the problem of employment, but also encourage them to be job creators by starting with the little they have,“ Nshyerezo said. Both Shyerezo and Ntegeyimfura sit on the executive committee of the National Youth Council which includes representatives from all the 30 districts and others from high schools and institutions of higher learning. The National Youth Council coordinator is the top representative of the Council, also head of the Executive Committee.
