Editor,Please allow me to comment on the article, “The power of ICT brings African leaders to Rwanda”, by Joseph Rwagatare (The New Times, October 29).I was delighted to see different Heads of State coming to Kigali for the Transform Africa Summit 2013. We all know that using information and communication technology in socio-economic development programmes is very important for anyone. This is a cause everyone should support. However, as we know technology needs to use electronic equipment (phones, laptops, desktops…), which are very difficult to be recycled when they get old. And even if they can, the consequences on the environment are enormous. It is therefore important that issues of environment are always considered during such discussions.Dusabe, Kigali
