RWANDA Automobile Club (RAC) will take the national rally championship to the streets of Burundi with the Rally de Ngozi, which is scheduled for October 26-27, Times Sport has learnt. It will be the first time that RAC takes a national championship event outside the country, and according to the body’s chairman Christian Gakwaya, the choice of Bujumbura is one way of supporting their Burundian counterparts to promote Motorsport in the country. “We want to encourage and assist our Burundian counterparts to love and take part in the sport,” Gakwaya said early this week. Rally de Ngozi will attract twelve crews, including six from Rwanda and led by defending champion Davite Giancarlo, who will be navigated by Sylvia Vindevogel. Other Rwandan drivers, Who have confirmed participation in the Rally de Ngozi are; Elefter Mitraros and Paolo Paganin, Mayaka Felekeni and Idrissa Mulemba, Janvier Mutuga and Jules Uwimana, Jean-Claude Gakwaya and Armand Birindabago as well as Genese Semana and Jacques Hakizimana. After Rally de Ngozi, focus will shift to Rally des Mille Collines which is the last round on the national rally championship and is slated to be held from November 7-8.
