Rwanda men’s senior volleyball team begins residential training today ahead of the Zone V Qualifiers for the 2014 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships, which will be held in Poland.The Zone V tournament, which is slated to run from November 25 to December 1 in Kigali, will attract five teams including Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Egypt and the host Rwanda.Head coach Paul Bitok and his assistant Jean Marie Nsengiyumva will start preparations with only home-based players, but the professionals Yakan Guma Lawrence (Etoile Sportive de Setif) and Mukunzi Christopher (El Fanar) are expected to join the camp two weeks before the tournament.The national team is scheduled to lock horns with league side APR in the first of a series of build-up matches on Wednesday.Rwanda, with home advantage, are regarded as favourites in a competition where the top three teams will qualify to the final qualifying round which will determine Africa’s representatives to the World Championships.Provisional squad:Bosco Mutabazi, Aimable Mutuyimana, Adolphe Mutoni, Elie Mutabazi, Fred Musoni and Theodore Hyango (APR), Olivier Ntagengwa, Tuyishime, Eric Nsabimana, Emile Dada Karera (NUR), Flavien Ndamukunda, Kwizera Marchal, Herve Kagimbura and William Mudahemuka Songo (INATEK), Thierry Mugabo (Lycee de Nyanza) and Nelson Murangwa (GSOB), Vincent Dusabimana (Rayon Sports VC) Algeria-based; pair Yakan Lawrence Guma (Etoile Sportive de Setif) and Christopher Mukunzi (El Fanar).
