Rwanda will send two swimmers to next month’s Africa Junior Swimming Championships in Lusaka, Zambia, officials have told Saturday Sport. Rwanda Swimming Federation chairman Samuel Kinimba named the swimmers as Isaac Bebeto Irankunda and Christelle Orsola Marie Rwabukwandi. Kinimba told Times Sport yesterday, “We hope to send these two swimmers to feature in the continental junior championship. We want to use this platform to prepare them for 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.” “We have a very good crop of swimmers coming through in some national championships held locally and I expect these two to do well in Lusaka,” added Kinimba. Rwanda expects stiff competition from South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Egypt and Algeria during the event. Zambia was considered to host the junior championships by CANA because of the good facilities. Meanwhile, Uganda will host the 11th edition of the CANA Zone Three and Four championships next year.
