There’s nothing more annoying than being sober when everyone else around you is behaving like they just took a dip in a pool of liquor. A comparison might be the ones who think that because they are drunk, they have the right to be rude and vulgar.Some fellow over the weekend decided he had taken too much alcohol and therefore needed to share his heights with everyone else. He jumped from table to table singing songs whose lyrics he had clearly forgotten - and poking indivuals to sing along. I probably would have let that slide had he not insisted on spitting God knows what in my face every time he opened his mouth. All I saw were bits of what looked like stale nyama choma flying my way. I tried to be nice; I told him to sing in another direction, preferably not anywhere near my face.Good Lord! It was like he had been compelled to scream abusive words. The man rapped in what I can assure you was a concoction of languages, at one point even using words I could bet my arm he didn’t understand. Why everyone else found it amusing was baffling seeing as I was pissed beyond words.One friend told me to ‘be easy’ and other insisted that it was ‘alcohol talking’. Umva, since when did alcohol grow a mouth? Enough with the alcohol excuse. While watching a match a couple of weeks back at a popular sports bar in Remera, I noticed a man who was clearly on a mission to finish all the alcohol in the bar. I confirmed my fears when I was told that he hadn’t slept in two days and was chilling in the bar drowning his issues in lager. The man could barely walk, let alone stand! He was dragged to a corner and placed in a chair. He blacked out for like 20 minutes and as we moved on to other things, we heard a thud. I can swear even the ground shook a little. On turning to see what was up, our dear friend had fallen off his chair and was now (forehead down) on the floor!It took about four people to get him back up and all I could think about was the damage he had done to his head. That must have hurt! But at the time, he was too drunk to care so I’m guessing he found it painful the next day. I’m also guessing he’s still glued to the thing that could have easily cost him his life…shame!
