As the Giants of Africa Festival (GOA) gets underway, several events are expected to be held in different venues. The festival is set to take place from Sunday, August 13 to 19. Here's a sneak peek at the hosting venues and the exciting events that will unfold. ALSO READ: A sneak peek into the Giants of Africa Festival BK Arena A grand opening -the festival kicks off with a spectacular opening ceremony at the BK Arena, where 250 passionate youth from 16 different African countries will gather. This vibrant fusion of sports, entertainment, and culture will set the tone for an inspiring week ahead. BK Arena is the main venue hosting several events, it as well hosted a special event in honour of UN-designated International Youth Day. The event aims to empower and engage 2000 Rwandan youth aged 15-18 with education and inspiration. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from notable figures from GOA such as Masai Ujiri, First Lady Jeannette Kagame and retired Lt. Gen Romeo Dallarie, founder of the Dallaire Institute among others. Agahozo Sharom becomes a hub for interactive workshops, panel discussions, and mentorship sessions following GOA’s announcement in 2021, a 100-court investment in the infrastructure of Africa under ‘Built within’ initiative. Youth will have the chance to learn valuable life skills, leadership, and personal development strategies that extend beyond the basketball court. Umuganda Participants are expected to engage in community work (Umuganda) on August 19 and also be part of giving back to the local community. From environmental projects to volunteering efforts, this event highlights the importance of social responsibility. This venue holds indoor gymnasium including volleyball, basketball and welcoming new handball side. The venue will be a hub for transformation of African culture and heritage.
