NORTHERN PROVINCE Musanze—Musanze prison guards yesterday shot dead a prisoner trying to escape from the compound in the middle of the night. Joseph Munyangwizye, 25, from Kinigi sector, died instantly against a prison wall after he had whirled through a wide septic-pipe underground and had found his way outside. Warden Alloys Bujambi confirmed the near-escape and said that the deceased had been arrested three times in the past. Prison guards called for Munyangwizye to stop repeatedly before being forced to fire upon him. Ends
