EASTERN PROVINCE Nyagatare—Prominent MP Emmanuel Munvaneza has been accused of supplying Kalashnikov guns during the 1994 Genocide. The member of parliament is accuse of giving guns and ammunition to Celevian Kazizi during the Genocide. The president of Tabagwe sector Gacaca court sent a letter to Muvaneza after Kazizi accused him of the actions in a Tabagwe Gacaca, where he was answering allegations. Kazizi is accused of killing one Focus Ndayambaje and his family. ‘This member of parliament gave me a gun and in return as a sign of appreciation I gave him Frw30000, for a purpose of my protection and he also enrolled my identities on the list of energetic men to go take part in military training at Gabiro training barracks,” Kazizi told Tabagwe Gacaca appellate court. Munvaneza is said to be a former leader of the present-day Mukama sector in Nyagatare and has admitted to attending military trainings. ‘We were given guns to fight the-then common enemy who were the RPA and anyone in support of them but this man is feeding the court with lies that I gave him a gun for his individual protection,” Munvaneza said in an interview. “Just take it from me, everyone was given the gun to fight the common enemy.” Munvaneza, who represents Nyagatare District admitted to have included Celevian Kazizi on the list of those to attend the military training, but categorically denies giving him a gun.
