Editor,I wish to respond to Allan Brian Ssenyonga’s article, “Is EAC the worst place to be a teacher now?” published in the Sunday Times of September 15.What a wonderful article! I would like to say that after more than 30 years as a secondary teacher, I sadly agree with you. I would offer to share the frustration of teachers in our area: last year we even had to give up a portion of our salaries so that the district could meet the budget. However, for me, it is more about the work in the classroom with direct contact with the students: imparting knowledge and their gratitude – that is the reward. Society doesn’t seem to have the same respect that was once accorded to us. Christine Boisvert, Maine, United States
