betPawa and Rwanda’s basketball governing body FERWABA teamed up over the weekend for action-packed 3 by 3 games that brought together various top stars and fans as Kigali marked the first Car Free Day this month. Justin Uwitonze and Emmanuel Iyakaremye from REG team which plays in the top flight basketball league led the Bulls team to victory followed by Boma and Splash which took second and third positions respectively in the games. Representatives of betPawa said the event provided a great opportunity for championing the value in sustainable and healthy living with sport as a key driver. betPawa is FERWABA’s main partner, having made a substantial contribution of Rwf 423.9 million in a partnership deal signed in June. “Our first 3 by 3 event as a sponsor was a success and we look forward to hosting these games twice a month on Car Free Days bringing street basketball action as we also play our part in championing healthier living through sports and exercise,” betPawa’s Country Manager Fiona Munyana said. “We would like to thank the fans and the players for showing up early on Sunday morning for the event, which is a strong testament to their dedication to the game of basketball in the country and the importance of the Car Free Day in promoting environmentally friendly practices.” The top three teams at the 3 by 3 games were awarded cash prizes. Bulls received Rwf 250,000 for winning, followed by Rwf 150,000 for runners-up Boma and Rwf 100,000 for third-placed Splash.
