I’d like to point out that the social stigma attached to unmarried people will not break me; it will not send me desperately running to a church or a magistrate anytime soon. Someone pointed out that marriage is out-dated and peculiar. Like you all know, I do my thinking in the night and I thought about this too.So this is what came to my mind, what if we are all doing it wrong, what if we are not supposed to get married, what if we are not supposed to be monogamous, what if we are supposed to be wild and free. Otherwise, how do we explain the high divorce rates, or why married people kill each other, or why people remain trapped in horrible marriages all because they signed a piece of paper. Does life mean so little to people that they would rather spend it attached to someone that they fell out of love with? Thinking about the misery attached to the idea of having to answer to someone every day sickens me - let alone seeing the same face... gosh! You really don’t have to judge my thinking (although I know some of you are) but yes I think it sucks.I know some people have claimed to be in wonderful marriages and some are very happy apparently. However, I cannot help but wonder if it is not just for show. Honestly what proof is there that they are happy and the lousy men are not trying their best to screw it up by cheating? Isn’t it what some do anyway?Okay, I’m probably whining too much, but the truth is I don’t mind living with the person I love but marriage I think is just way too much. It just doesn’t seem fair to spend the rest of your life tied to lousy doctrines. I want the option of walking out if I am tired.Do not for a minute think that I am writing this because I want to be able to sleep around or be slutty like most of you are thinking, that’s not the case. I just believe rules are the same things that lead to misery and for some reason people like to explore when they are attached to other people. It’s just like high school or prisons, that fence outside is where the freedom is - same thing with marriage.
