Five hundred eleven students of Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, ISAE Busogo, were last week awarded degrees and diplomas at the institution’s seventh graduation ceremony.Thirty of the graduates were awarded advanced diplomas, while 479 were awarded bachelor’s degrees.Dr Innocent Mugisha, the executive secretary of the National Council for Higher Education, told the graduates that they are needed on the labour market to improve agriculture and livestock but urged them to uphold core values and discipline using skills they acquired to help Rwandans boost their livelihood.“If you make put your personal interests ahead of those you will serve, it will be a disappointment for us. Whenever a farmer asks support to improve, do it before targeting money,” Musisha saidThe excited graduates promised their contribution to national development.“I am happy for the long journey, I am now ready to put my skills into use to be more productive in changing agriculture in the country,” said Alex Segatashya. The acting rector, Dr Laetitia Nyinawamwiza, urged the graduates to use their knowledge and practical skills to promote developmental concerns by spreading rural technologies.Founded in 1989, ISAE has passed out more than 3,550 personnel into the agricultural labour market.
