The Cultural Fashion show held at Sports View hotel on Saturday was a display of glamour and style. The event which lasted only three hours, started at 7pm with the first set of models hitting the runway. Trendy collections for both men and women were on display. The gala event was well attended and it exhibited a variety of materials and fabrics that demonstrated how the Rwandan fashion industry has evolved over the years.Inside the well-decorated main hall, over 30 models strutted down the long catwalk in designs from local fashion houses like Ikanda Fashion, Ewacu, Quality Banana Fibres tradition and Rwanda Clothing, among others. The show also featured beautiful designs from Burundi, United States of America and India.The outfits showcased at the event ranged from office wear, evening wear, casual, wedding gowns, beach wear and summer outfits.There was also display of designs from the 1960s, like Amasunzu, (Rwandan traditional hairstyle), Umukenyero, (traditional dress) and Inshabure, (a traditional skirt that fraises at the bottom). Inganzo Ngari entertained the audience with their lively and beautifully choreographed traditional performances. The event was organised in collaboration with several modeling agencies, including Travella Fashion Models Ltd, Gisabo Event Management Ltd and Iris Pro-Films 1000 Hills ltd.The one-day fashion extravaganza aimed at bringing creativity and innovation to fashion and forecast the future of Africa fashion.“We want to provide business opportunities, networking and leisure activities for the audience. This will improve the Rwandan fashion industry,” said Celestin Ntawirema, the managing director of Iris Pro-Films 1000 Hills ltd.
