THE National Paralympic Committee (NPC-Rwanda) is looking for Rwf25m to host the 2013 World Sitball Championships scheduled for October 11-12 in Kigali.Rwanda, who are defending champions, have already secured sponsorship from the Ministry of Sports and Culture worth Rwf30m but they still need an additional Rwf25m to be able to host a successful tournament. “Plans are underway to host the tournament but we are mainly concerned with lack of enough funds,” the NPC president Celestin Nzeyimana told Times Sport yesterday.“We have already been assured partial sponsorship from the Ministry of Sports and Culture and we are doing our very best to seek more funds such that we can be able to host a successful tournament,” added Nzeyimana. The money needed will go into the organisation of the two-day event as well catering for basic needs such as feeding, accommodation and transport for national teams from Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Germany, Switzerland, DR Congo and Tanzania.Three years ago, Rwanda won both the men and women titles in the Sitball World Cup in Kampala, Uganda. Rwanda A beat German 21-20 in a thrilling final, while their female counterparts had a much easier task as they thrashed hosts Uganda 33-8.
