Editor,EWSA read with dismay an article published in The New Times of 22 August 2013 under the headline: “Internal Disputes Delay Power Generation from Methane Gas”. For the interest of the public who deserve accurate and balanced information about EWSA’s efforts to increase the electricity supply to the Rwandan people, we wish to make the following clarifications:1. The issue between KivuWatt and Civicon is merely an internal contract management/commercial matter solely between the two private companies. Regarding the Methane to Power project on Lake Kivu, EWSA has contractual arrangements with Contour Global/KivuWatt in form of a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement). The comments made by Charles Nyirahuku do not represent the views of EWSA.2. The statement about one year extension granted by EWSA to Contour Global/KivuWatt is totally wrong. Indeed, EWSA did not grant any extension to KivuWatt with the effect of pushing the completion date to June 2014. This would be contrary to contractual terms between KivuWatt and EWSA.Prosper Mubera, Head of Public Relations & Communication Unit, EWSA
