A Thanksgiving Week organised by various Christian churches and coordinated by Rwanda Purpose Driven Ministries begins today, an event that is being held in Rwanda for the second time. Organisers of the Rwanda Thanksgiving Festival 2013 said that it will take place at different levels of the country, from the family to the district level, and will conclude at the national level at the Amahoro National Stadium on the 1st September 2013. The event is set to bring thousands of Rwandans together in the spirit of unity and collective prayers, leaders at the Rwanda Purpose Driven Ministries and PEACE Plan organisation, who are organising the festival, have announced. Renowned Rev. Dr. Rick Warren of the Saddle Back Church in the United States and Apostle Dr. Paul Gitwaza are some of the natables behind the event. Various churches have organised thanksgiving events across the country, starting from today, with activities such as church leaders’ seminars and reaching out to communities. According to Anglican Archbishop Dr. Onesphore Rwaje, an advisor on the board of Rwanda Purpose Driven Ministries and church exchange group PEACE Plan in Rwanda, many have commended the event. “From the first edition of the Rwanda Thanksgiving Festival 2012, a good feedback was received from the Rwandan people, requesting that this festival take place annually. It brings together the Rwandan people in faith and unity,” he said.
