Rwandan secondary schools’ teams to represent country at this year’s East African post primary games set-off this morning for the competitions which will run from August 24 to 31 in Lira, Northern Uganda. The 23 teams will compete in nine sports disciplines namely; football, basketball, handball, netball, rugby, tennis, table tennis and athletics. The competitions will also include hockey and badminton but Rwanda won’t have representatives. In the last edition held in Bujumbura, Rwanda finished empty-handed unlike in 2011 in Mbarara, Uganda where they won the handball (boys and girls’) titles. The Rwanda School Sports Federation (RSSF) Executive Secretary, Florent Rwigema, who is one of the officials leading the Rwandan delegation, told Times Sport on Wednesday, “We shall set-off from Lycée de Kigali tomorrow (today) morning at 9am after a short briefing of all athletes.” The delegation includes twelve boys and eleven girls’ teams.
