You are who you are… period!

Never underestimate the strength of pretence many ladies use to hook up with fine dudes because the joke will be on you when your man diverts to the “good ones.” It had never crossed my mind just how much a woman can pretend in a relationship, until I witnessed a dramatic scenario.Dean, a male friend of mine, had been bickering over my refusal to meet his new catch. Basing on our routine conversations, I knew he had finally acquired the ‘cookie’. And it was good enough to divert him from his jumpy behavior. “I intend to settle and raise a family with Diana. She is a princess and I don’t know how I got so lucky,” Dean said.What melted his heart were her principles. For a man of his age, Dean thought he had seen it all. Fine girls had slept in his bed, he used to binge drink and obviously, he had had his share of heartbreaks. Because of that, all Dean wanted in a lady was standards. Dean wanted a sober born-again woman and God had answered his prayers through Diana.At least she had made him believe she was that innocent. “I hate myself for introducing her to my night life. She hates it when I take her home past 8:00 pm,” Dean often said.Diana claimed Dean was her first boyfriend ever - she had not dated through campus, apparently. She said she had never consumed anything alcoholic and that she never hangout with the wrong crowd. Well, when I finally met Diana, I was shocked! She was a colleague who left a name at campus. She went dancing throughout the week, I had seen her smoking several times, she had dated a few guys and hell, we had bumped into each other a month ago in a night club! Can’t tell why she lives two different lives though it’s as common as breakfast with many modern ladies. A woman with a throng of children will lie she is still virgin while an evidently old woman will say she is still a teenager, all in the name of hooking up! She will settle for tea while her throat itches for liquor.While men fall prey and only discover true character when it’s too late, some women still suggest CLA, New Life or any church as their first date venue, since they haven’t been to bars before! It leaves me wondering if there is any underestimation that surpasses faking character!
