Sumatran tiger takes swimming lessons at London ZooA Sumatran tiger has been given swimming lessons at London Zoo to keep him cool during the recent heat wave. While most tigers love water, Jae Jae usually stays in the shallow end, only tentatively venturing into deeper water. Jae Jae is a 130kg (20st 6lbs) Sumatran tiger at London Zoo, whose keepers have taught him to swim in order to strengthen his leg muscles and keep him cool during the summer. They built a raft, in the middle of Jae Jaes new pool enclosure, and topped it with horse meat, the big cats favourite. The new raft forms part of his daily enrichment, helping to encourage his natural behaviour. Born in San Francisco Zoo, Jae Jae moved to Akron Zoo, Ohio with his brothers Kami Sambol, and Burung when they were all a year old. Man rekindles love affair with ex-partner after donating her a kidneyIt was the ultimate declaration of love. A man who split from his girlfriend 20 years ago has rekindled his love affair after he stepped forward to donate her a kidney. Gordon Henry, 53, and Jo Macfarlane, 44, separated in 1993 but are now back together following his life-saving gift. Miss Macfarlane suffers from a chronic kidney condition and was badly in need of a donor before her former partner Mr Henry heard about her plight. He offered his organ and when doctors discovered he was a perfect match the procedure went ahead. They woke up in adjoining beds in hospital – where nurses told Miss Macfarlane they thought Mr Henry secretly wanted her back. Since the life-changing operation love has once again blossomed and they are now together again.
