A week-long international youth conference yesterday kicked off in Kigali under the theme “Youth Revival Times.”The annual conference, in its fifth year, is organised by Healing Centre Remera Church and aims at calling the young generation to work hard without forgetting God as their spiritual leader in all their endeavors. “The church has influence and ability of nurturing the youth into responsible citizens in their respective countries; and this will actually help in having the young people that this world needs now and in the near future,” said Innocent Abaho, the communication coordinator of the event.It has attracted youth representatives from various countries including Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda among others.“We realised that there is need for us to come together as a Church and seek appropriate measures through which we can play a role in the upbringing of the youth in a way that is not only good for the church, but also contribute to the development of our countries,” he said.The conference has attracted various renowned preachers in the region as well as gospel musicians such as Burundi’s Dudu Niyukuri and Rwanda’s Simon Kabera. South African evangelist Dr Samimi Musepa and Toye Okanlawon from Nigeria are among those expected to lead the worship as well as apostle Paul Gitwaza of Zion Temple.Organisers said that the conference is free and open to the public regardless of the religious denomination one belongs.
