RWANDA Amateur Boxing Association [Raba] will send pugilists at the 2013 Africa Amateur Boxing Championship set for September in Port Louis Mauritius.Organised by Africa Boxing Union (ABU), the championship opening is one of the continent’s major boxing events.The Raba technical director Kananura Gashugi told Saturday Sports yesterday that boxers who will represent the country at the continental championship would be selected on merit during the national championship set to be held before the end of this month.“We are optimistic our boxers will make their presence felt at the Africa championship this time around because all clubs have been informed to prepare their boxers well in time for the championship. So we expect to pick the best cream of boxers at the championship,” said Gashugi.Boxers who will also be picked will also compete at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.The upcoming championship will also be a qualifying platform for upcoming boxers who will compete in the World Junior championship set to be held in Kiev, Ukraine from September 5 to 16.Only the boxers between the ages of 15 and 16 will be eligible to compete (born between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 1998) in 13 Weight Categories namely; 44kg-46kg, 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, 80+kg
