Emerging Leaders and Entrepreneurs (ELE Rwanda) a youth platform for innovation and entrepreneurship is holding a two week ‘creativity and innovation camp’ at IPRC-Kigali.The camp that brought together about 35 students is under this year’s theme; “Rebuilding a Nation through Innovation”.Yves Iradukunda the Chief Executive Officer said that it is high time students started using talents to create solutions once they are already connected to innovators or mentors in developing different projects. The students will also discuss how the above technologies can be applied to local challenges.This camp is made up of students with strong leadership skills who are willing to serve the community in their field of technology (science, design, agriculture, art and other fields).During their second week of training, they will be joined by experts from the United States of America in an effort to boost several ideas among participants.On April 11, 2013, ELE Rwanda was honoured with the Creativity Award by The Journal Record and Creative Oklahoma, a state-wide award in Oklahoma. Creative Oklahoma is a state-wide non-profit organisation that advances Oklahoma’s creative economy through creativity and innovation-based initiatives in education, commerce and culture.In 2012, engineering graduates from Oklahoma Christian University organised the first engineering camp in partnership with Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). The camp was aimed at increasing interest in engineering and developing the I-can-do-it-too spirit among Rwandan youth.ELE Rwanda continues to identify a number of student-led projects in an effort to support innovation and entrepreneurship that suits Rwanda’s economic development.
