Songstress Ariel Wayz on Thursday, September 8, released a new Extended (EP) ‘Touch the Sky’ during which she celebrated her birthday in a live concert held at Envision Arts Center. It’s an evening of entertainment that was attended by her parents who, she said, came through to support her in a concert for the first time since she started her music career.“I am so glad to see my mom and dad here. It is my first time singing when they are around. I am so happy to launch my second Extended Play now. Let’s do it, Ariel said shortly after touching down the stage. The Nyundo School of Arts and Music alumni told The New Times that she named her EP ‘Touch The Sky’, “due to the fact that the sky is the farthest that I want to take my art and life.”The singer has been working on the EP over the past six months which, she said, was an easy ride since all the songs are ‘very personal’.“I really loved how smooth it was,” she explained before taking to the mic to sing each and every song on the EP.Clad in a black top and shorts and a red jacket with black and white wings on the back, an emotionally excited Ariel Wayz cheered on the audience at the place as she reached the stage for a performance. It was an insightful EP presentation where she would explain the story behind every song that she was performing. From 'Touch the Sky’, which is named after the EP to 'You Should Know’, a love song that reminds partners that their love is so real, the former Symphony Band member had every right to leave the audience in awe with her joyous voice that none wanted to let go of till she performed her very last ‘Mpaka’ to call it a night. But still no one wanted to see her leaving the stage. They felt like she was only beginning to sing.In general, ‘Touch The Sky’ comprises six songs namely ‘Touch The Sky’, ‘Mpaka’, ‘You Should Know’, ‘FU’, ‘Far From You’ and ‘Bad’.The likes of Bruce the 1st, who also performed, Alyn Sano, Babo and Andy Bumuntu as well as Might Popo, her former mentor at Nyundo Music School were in attendance to support the singer during the EP launch.‘Touch the Sky’ becomes Ariel Wayz’ second after ‘Love & Lust’ which she released in December 2021.The minds behind her EP are Santana Sauce, Davydenko, Kevin Klein, Flyest Music, Ayo Rash, Bob Pro, and Keeny Vibz as the producers. She also thanked fellow musicians Passy Kizito, Mr Kagame, Memo, Fagy, Arsene and Gad among other friends who made it possible for her EP project to succeed.
