WESTERN PROVINCE The Police in Kibuye have arrested a 14-year old school boy at Ruganda Primary School, for allegedly stubbing. The offence came after a dispute with his friend over a girl. Ezechiel Niyonshima was arrested last week and is currently detained at Kibuye police station for attempting to murder Daniel Ndisanze on accusations of moving out with his girl friend, Divine Mizero. According to police and other sources, Niyonshima committed the crime on July 2. He reportedly attempted to stab Ndisanga first in the head but he dodged, then he stabbed him on the hand and he failed to guard until the knife penetrated his chest. The police sources say that it was an organised attack because Niyonshima went to pick the knife at home after a fight with his victim. “Court is yet to try the culprit since his age allows him to be tried,” said police. Mizero who denies being girl friend to any of the two boys, said she heard the suspect threatening to kill his victim after he bypassed her standing in the company of Cadette Nyiransabimana on the roadside. “We heard him say he had come to terminate Ndisanze’s life though we got confused about what he meant,” says Mizero, adding that there was no special intimacy beyond being schoolmates. Medical officials at Kibuye Hospital where Ndisanze is currently admitted say he is still in critical condition surviving on oxygen, though they are trying to save his life. “His lungs were damaged but we are trying our best,” said a medical official attending to him. The official explained that Ndisanga stands a chance of recovering because they managed to prevent blood from flowing to the other parts of his lungs from the wound. Niyonshima admitted committing the crime contending that it was over the girlfriend (Mizero). “After Ndisanga had accused me of fornicating with Mizero I got annoyed and we started fighting, he threw stones at me after which I got more annoyed and went home for the penknife I used to stab him,” he said, adding that he had no regrets for his actions. “He had told me earlier that he would finish my life,” Ndisanga told our reporter on his hospital bed.
