“Hello East Africa” comes to Kigali

The weeklong “Hello East Africa” art exhibition, which will showcase the work of eleven of East Africa’s best artists, begins tomorrow. The exhibition, which ends on 28 June, will open with a reception at Umubano Hotel in Kacyiru at 6:30 p.m. There will also be an exhibition at Remera’s Beausejour Hotel. Entry to the exhibition is free to the public. This event is only about art. Guests will glimpse original artwork and performance-based presentations. They will have the opportunity to meet with and rub shoulders with the different artists. Curated by artists Epa Binamungu and Arlette Vandeneycken of the Rwandan artists association Isoko Arts Rwanda, the exhibition aims to promote a culture of solidarity within the region and to help artists share their experiences and cultures. “This is an opportunity for the region’s artists, young and old, to showcase their talent,” said Binamungu. The exhibition aims to encourage both renowned and upcoming artists to narrate societal issues through their works. Participants include local artists Epa Binamungu, Arlette Vandeneycken, Laurent Hategekimana, Pascal Bushayija, Strong Karakire and Venuste Habimana. They will be joined by Arish Sharma from Burundi, Samuel Githui from Kenya, Haji Mussa Chilonga and Salum KambI from Tanzania and Ruganzu Bruno Tusingwire from Uganda. “Hello East Africa” is organised by Isoko Arts Rwanda in partnership with MINISPOC. Isoko Arts Rwanda is the umbrella association of Rwandan fine artists.
