Pump preces for petrol and diesel have been reduced. The petroleum products are now at Rwf1,000 per litre, down from Rwf1,050.The Minister of Trade and Industry, Francois Kanimba, said the reduction was mainly due to a decline in oil prices on the international market in the last three months.“I am happy that the prices have gone down. I hope that this will also lead to a drop in commuter transport fees since they usually increase fares once fuel prices have been hiked,” said Beata Ingabire, a daily commuter. The price reduction announcement by the government caused excitement among motorists and commuters across the country. The Ministry of Trade and Industry increased the pump prices of both diesel and petrol by Rwf50 ($0.1) to Rwf1,050 ($1.6) mid-March, citing rising prices of crude oil on the international market.
