Kanda Amazi (Squeeze the Water), sang by Knowless (pictured left), Jay Polly, Dream Boys and Tom Close, is perhaps the funniest song I’ve listened to in a very long time. Here are some of the lyrics: The doctors stopped me from drinking alcohol/But I ask, should I drown myself in water or juice?/Instead of getting better, I will just die/Only the thought of an empty bottle is unbearable or living without smoking tobacco. Crazy, isn’t it? The video clip of the song was shot in a village setting, the artistes dressed in tattered clothes, holding hoes and drinking alcohol from calabashes as they munched on brochettes. Artistically, the fusion of traditional and contemporary instruments makes it worth listening to. Indeed, this is a great piece of work.
