Primus league clubs lined up for Football Memorial Tourney

Football Memorial Tournament June 5 Police FC vs La Jeunesse June 6 Rayon Sports vs Mukura vs (15h30’) June 8, Final Four Primus League clubs have confirmed their availability to compete in the maiden Genocide Football Memorial Tournament scheduled for June 5-6 at Amahoro Stadium. The Rwanda Football Federation in partnership with the Commission for the Fight against Genocide (CNLG) is organising the two-day event. The Genocide memorial tournament was established by Southern Province football giants Mukura and due to financial constraints, Rwanda football governing board and CNLG decided to offer assistance and make it even bigger since honouring the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi is a national concern. The Advisor to the Executive Secretary in the CNLG, Philbert Rutagengwa said yesterday, “We have only four teams which confirmed to take part in the tournament and all match proceeds will go towards helping victims of 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi,” According to Rutagengwa, La Jeunesse which finished the season fifth placed was brought into the fold to replace 13-league champions APR who are preparing for the Cecafa/Kagame Club Championship. APR FC, also has many of its players summoned to the Amavubi team which will at that time be travelling to Bamako for the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Mali on June 9. Since 1994, Ferwafa is among the sporting federations that have never held any Genocide commemoration tournament. The knock out matches are set to be played on June 5 and 6 with the winners set to clash in the final match on June 8 at Amahoro stadium. Some of the known footballers and fans who died during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi include; Kiyovu Sports: Innocent Kagabo, Innocent Murenzi Alias Gukuni, Martin Rudasingwa, Rusha and Kanyadekwe. Rayon Sports: Raphael Murekezi alias Fatikaramu, Longin Munyurangabo, Bosco (Mwene Ruterana), Kirangi, Rutabingwa, Misili, Charles Kayombya, Kibambasi Mugemana, Kassim, Abbas, Sabiti Ntacyabukura. Panthère Noire FC: Rugumire, Mukungwa FC: Basebya, Terminus FC: Pascal Rutazibwa and Augustin Ruzindana and in Kilo Volte FC: Kagabo. Etincelles FC: Jean Marie Vianney Rudasingwa Alias Semukanya and Faustin Semutaga. Gishamvu FC: François Mukimbiri, Romuald Gahigira, Pascal Ruberizesa, Justin Senyange, Clément Kayisire, Etienne Nkundiye and Sindikubwabo Bernard.
