Binagwaho, Chinese minister tour Masaka Hospital

A visiting Chinese delegation, led by international trade vice minister, on Wednesday, toured Masaka Hospital in Kicukiro District, where they heard testimonies of patients who use Chinese traditional treatment methods.The treatment is applied to patients who suffer from paralysis-related problems, which, according hospital officials, affects muscles, backbone or the vertebra.Dr Annie Isabelle Izimukwiye, the head of the hospital, said the treatment is “unique and exceptional” because no drug is given to a patient, instead only small needles are injected in the patient’s body.The wonder treatmentShe said only one Chinese specialist, aided by a Rwandan, work in the department, which was introduced in November 2011.“Driving for so long affected my backbone and I was in a lot of pain for many years. I have just spent a few days here but I’m now okay,” said Papias Rugamba, a 53-year-old patient from Rulindo District.Abraham Rwamiheto, who had come all the way from Bugesera District, said: “I abruptly got paralysed on lips and face three months ago and was starting to give up on life. However, after only two weeks here, I am already feeling my face and I have regained my sight.”
