Thirty-six university students, under their association ‘Brighter Future Group’, have taken charge of 22 children from poor families in Gasabo District to ensure they remain in school.According to Emmanuel Twagirimana, the group coordinator, they are currently spending at least Rwf40,000 per year on each beneficiary. He said the children are all from Rusororo Sector and they were picked basing on household classification system commonly known as Ubudehe.Of the 36 members, Twagirimana said, 25 are graduates, while 11 are still in school. Only five of the association members are employed.“It was very hard for me to get requirements for all my eight children until the association chipped in and took charge of two of my kids,” said Muhammad Gakwaya, one of the parents.
