Police in Kamonyi District are holding a woman and her three children over the death of the family head. The woman, 69, and her son and three daughters, from Jenda Cell in Mugina Sector, are accused of conspiring to kill the 75-year-old man, whose lifeless body was found at his home yesterday.Police say a conflict that could have led to the death of the household head is said to be land-related.It is alleged that the suspects, who are currently detained at Mugina Police Post, on the fateful day at about 9pm, attacked the deceased, who was asleep in his bedroom, and stabbed him to death.Police said the woman and her children had conspired to grab land from the deceased, which the latter resisted. The Southern Police Spokesperson, Chief Supt. Hubert Gashagaza, condemned the incident.“It is so unfortunate that such inhuman acts can still occur in our society, even when people know the alternative to have their grievances solved fairly,” Gashagaza said.“Together with local leaders and Community Policing Committees and the public, we are now mapping-out families with disputes to help them reach an understanding or channel their grievances to concerned authorities, as a way of preventing such deaths,” he added. He said to effectively prevent such crimes, the public should feed authorities with information on affected families.
