Gomez’s team needs just one point against Musanze on Wednesday to be crowned Rwanda champions for the first time in nine seasons.However, their French coach Didier Gomez da Roza is not in the mood to celebrate before anything has been won and he has emphasised this point to his players and fans.To Gomez, whose team enjoys a five-point lead over second-placed Police FC with two games remaining; celebrating now would be like “dancing before the music” because his side still has work to do. “We need one point and we have to get it against Musanze on Wednesday so that we can start the celebrations,” the Frenchman told Times Sport after Sunday’s win at Amahoro National Stadium.The six-time champions need only a point on Wednesday which would take them to 55 points and also hand them the title, which they last won back in 2004 under Jean Baptist Kayiranga.If Police win the two games left and somehow Rayon lose both, it gives the Kops side a maximum of 55 points, but Blues have a superior goal difference.Rayon Sport still have to face Musanze and Espoir, while Goran Kopunovic’s Police will come up against Amagaju and AS Kigali.For Gomez, winning the last two games gives him the chance to win the league title with an unbeaten record since taking over from Ali Bizimungu last October when the club was third from bottom.In 19 league matches he has been in charge, Rayon has won 16 and drawn two against Amagaju 1-1 and Police 1-1 before losing against Mukura 2-1.On Sunday, Rayon edged closer to title after a humiliating 6-1 walloping AS Muhanga to go five points clear of second-placed Police who blew their slim chances following a goalless drew against Espoir at Kicukiro turf.The Blues cruised to victory thanks to Cedric Amissi and Kambale Salita, who netted a brace each, while Muhanga’s Azziz Shyirakumutima scored an own goal before Gad Niyonshuti scored the sixth goal.Under Gomez, Rayon scored 33 goals with two strikers Amiss Cedric and Kambale Salite scoring 14 and 13 respectively, while Faudi Ndayisenga has 8 goals. Burundian striker Amissi, who signed for Rayon in January, has already equalled the record of 14 goals scored in the second half of the season set by Jimmy Gatete in 2005 for APR and Bokota Kamana in 2007 for Rayon.
