The national U19 team will travel to Brazil for a one-week training camp ahead of the FIVB World Cup due to be held in Mexico from June 28 to July 7.The team is set to head to Sao Paulo on June 10 where they will play a series of friendly matches.The Rwanda Volleyball federation chairman, Gustave Nkurunziza confirmed the development during a news conference held on Monday at Amahoro stadium.“We have contacted the former national team coordinator Paulo Pan to help us secure some friendly games in Brazil and his response has been positive,”“With a few matches before heading to Mexico, we will be able to have a good national team ready for the World showpiece,” added Nkurunziza.Rwanda qualified for the World Championship after winning a bronze medal in January CAVB Youth Championship held in Algeria.The youthful squad won only one match against hosts Algeria 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23) but lost the two remaining matches against Tunisia 3-0 and Egypt 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, and 25-22) respectively.Rwanda will face elite teams at the global showpiece which include; Serbia, Spain, Cuba, France, Argentina, Bulgaria, Greece, China, Brazil, Iran, USA, Egypt, Russia, Korea, Puerto Rico and Tunisia.It will be the second time that a Rwandan national team will be training in Brazil. In 2010, the Rwanda U20 held a training camp in Brazil before heading to Algeria where they finished fourth during the Africa Championships.
