Money can change people

Lying in my bed and thinking about the last time I tasted French fries, I decided to turn on the radio to listen to some sports news. Just as I was tuning in, I heard that there was a motorcycle rider who won RWF 180,000 from betting. I increased the volume to hear more of the story. I then went to withdraw my life’s savings as we had just gotten our monthly allowance. I got RWF 11,000 and rushed to the betting joint. When I got there, I saw that Dortmund, which was obviously the weaker team, had greater weight. I put my money on it. Guess what? It won the first leg of the champions League with flying colours. I run to the betting place and picked my money. It was quite a lot. With more than RWF 40,000 in my pocket, I couldn’t go to the restaurant where I always go. My friends asked me why I wasn’t going for lunch with them. But because I didn’t want to go to the nice restaurant with them as I would have to foot their bill too, I decided to lie and say I wasn’t hungry. Then I stormed the big restaurant with the rich guys. I ate two plates on self service and left many in shock. Being a fan of The New Times, I had read an interesting story of how cool massages can be, so of course it was on my to-do list. I hit the massage parlour and as we speak, I can’t wait for the day I go back - the money factor is limiting my dream. I really didn’t feel like washing my clothes myself so I sent for a lady to wash my clothes and clean my room as well. It wasn’t long before I checked my pocket and found only RWF 4,000 left. Oh Lord! I screamed. There is this guy who has been on my case for RWF 3,000 for months. He noticed that I had been housing people seriously. And with his very muscled brother, they came to my room to see to it that I pay up. With just one thousand left, I decided to get the remaining RWF 10,000 in my life and hit the betting place again. This time I came back walking from the betting place - all the way from Giporoso to Nyamirambo. With no friends to buy me lunch anymore because I didn’t think of them, I just lay on my bed like an aged dog. The massage parlour lady later called me to come back and I told her I was abroad but that I would be back soon.
