Upcoming striker Nova Bayama scored a 90th minute goal to earn maximum points for the military side. Despite the victory, APR remains third on the Primus league log with 39 points. They reduced the gap on leaders Rayon Sport to six points and five adrift of second-placed Police both playing on Sunday against Isonga and Muhanga respectively. SC Kiyovu dominated the game and had Pekeyake Tuyisenge and Julius Bakkabulindi to blame for not scoring earlier in the game. Pekeyake had a great chance to score within the fifth minute after the restart as he made a clever run down the right flank before delivering a precise ball into the hands of Jean Claude Ndoli. Bakkabulindi also blasted a shot well over the crossbar from close range. APR had also two good chances to take the lead but two headers from Jean Baptist Mugiraneza went off target. The military side continued to exert pressure and a defensive blunder from Aimable Ngizimana allowed Bayama to score the lone goal past Ugandan custodian Shamiru Batte. SC Kiyovu, who sit eighth with 29 points, have not managed to win any game ever since coach Jean Baptist Kayiranga resigned before the start of the second round in January and was replaced by his assistant Francois Kalisa. Today, Isonga face a daunting task against Rayon in a late bid to avoid relegation. The Blues are hoping to extend their push for the title. Second-placed Police have a tough task against AS Muhanga, who eliminated them from the Peace Cup competition this season. The Cops side will head to Muhanga in a bid to keep pressure on Rayon.
