THE Rwanda Cycling Federation will organise a one-day Individual ‘Time Trial’ race on May 5 in Gasabo District.It will be the second race of this kind after the one held last month, which was won by Rubavu-based Benediction Cycling Club held at the Free Trade Zone.Benediction clocked 39 minutes and 38 seconds in 25.6 km, and in second position came Amis Sportifs from Rwamagana came in 41’17’’. Fly came in third position with 49’12’’; Mixte was on fourth in a time of 49’30’’.According to the Rwanda Cycling Federation boss Aimable Bayingana, the main objective of the race is to train local riders on how to compete in Time Trial races (Race against watch). The first race was rated by team; however, the next one will be rated based on individual riders.“It is good for the riders to compete in as many competitions as possible because it helps them to raise their level of competitiveness which will help us in the coming years,” Bayingana told Times Sport early this week.All local clubs, including, Benediction, , Rapide, Satellite, Les Amis Sportifs, Fly, Cycling Club for All, Kiramuruzi Cycling team, Cine Elmay and Abahizi are expected to send riders to take apart in the event.Meanwhile, Team Rwanda’s Bonaventure Uwizeyimana finished in 34th position in the 2013 Mzanzi Tour in South Africa last weekend.The Benediction Cycling Club rider clocked 20h17’49’’, while another Rwandan, Hadi Janvier finished on 65th with time of 20h33’30’’. South Africa’s Hunter Rober won the 792.4 km race after leading all five stages.
