Rwanda National Olympic Committee (RNOC) official has called upon the local sports media to work hand in hand with sports federations so as to rises the standards of sports in the country. Speaking to Times Sport, RNOC vice president Julienne Mukandekezi said that media and sport are crucial factors that will spearhead the development of the country. “Media has a big role to play in the development of sports. It’s the media that will enable Rwanda to develop through sports,” Mukandekezi said. Mukandekezi further encouraged sports administrators to work hand in hand with the media to develop sports in Rwanda. “I urge everybody be in the media and sports fields work towards engaging youth in sports,” Mukandekezi said.Mukandekezi made the remarks after undergoing lectures on sports and mass media in the ongoing Advanced Sport Management Courses (ASMC) offered by the local Olympic Committee body designed with an aim of enabling sports administrators to access to strategic issues in the arena of the global sports governance. The ASMC eligibility stretches from accredited sport administrators, professional leaders in sport clubs, federations and leadership in Sport Olympic Committee to those who intend to boost their career prospects in professional sport as a business.
