Semi-finalsTodayAtraco v RayonAPR v Kiyovu This year’s Amahoro Cup awakens the old rivalries when the big four clubs in local football face each other in the semifinals of Amahoro Cup this afternoon at Nyamirambo stadium. Defending champions APR take on fierce rivals Kiyovu at 1pm local time while Atraco come head-to-head against Rayon Sport at 3:30pm. APR’s Dutch coach Rene Feller is boosted by the return of defender Boubakary Saddou who has been out of action due to a strained leg muscle. Feller is confident about his team’s chances of seeing off Kiyovu, a team even at their worst, tend to give APR a real run for their money. “First play good football and goals will come in the process,” Feller said, adding that his side has no injury worries going into today’s battle. The military side is chasing their fourth Amahoro Cup title after winning it in 2002, 2006 and 2007. Kiyovu under Antoinne Rutsindura will go into today’s match knowing a good record in this competition is their only option to win something this season. With the league way far beyond their reach, the Amahoro Cup becomes Kiyovu’s main hope for silverware—they last won it in 1985 when it was still called President Habyarimana Cup. Elsewhere, Atraco Fc coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira has vowed to leave no stone unturned in his quest to oust Rayon to a place in the final. The former APR coach plans to put out his best team possible as he seeks to steer the taxi-men side to their first silverware since their promotion to the topflight division in 2006. Ends
