Kibungo Intermediate Court has sentenced a 21-year-old man to 10 years in prison for defiling a seventeen year old girl. The court disclosed that Furaha Nyinawumuntu, who is today 18, was first defiled by Athanase Ngabonziza when she was 17 years old in 2012. The sentence was read in the presence of hundreds of residents in a football playground, in the village of Kabare, Nsinda Sector of Rwamagana District. Both the victim and the convict are residents of Kitazigurwa village, Muhazi Sector of Rwamagana District. According to residents, defilement cases are common among teachers and their students, and masters and their servants.
